A new game company has recently emerged from their cocoon – Plan B Games. Headquartered in Quebec, Plan B is spearheaded by former Z-Man Games CEO Sophie Gravel. With a mission to “Bring together exceptionally talented people to create and release exceptionally good games”, Plan B Games will be using a technique I haven’t seen before: logos that change based on the box. The logo will have an “endless color palette” and some examples are below:
As their first offering, Plan B Games will be releasing Century: Spice Road from Emmerson Matsuuchi of Nazca Games. Formerly titled Caravan, this title seems to have been a casualty of the Asmodee acquisition of Z-Man Games. Spice Road will be the first in a Century trilogy of games:
Emmerson Matsuuchi presents Century, the trilogy a stand-alone mixable game that explores the history of the most famous trading markets across the eras.
Century: Spice Road, the first title in the trilogy, is set in the 15th century, during the apex of the first commercial trade road. In this highly addictive game you will be fascinated by the ingenious hand-management mechanisms and its powerful combos. Literally impossible to put the box away!
According to their website, each title is set in different centuries, from the 15th to the 17th, and depicts the major trading systems and routes of these eras and the first will feature the art of Fernanda Suárez.
Century: Spice Road will release internationally on June 14th, 2017.
